Over the past few weeks, some of our users have encountered an error where the ntldr bootable CD was not found. This problem occurs for several reasons. Let's discuss this now.

NTLDR, short for NT Loader, is a bootable component file for Windows 2000, XP and 2003. If NTLDR is missing, your computer will not start and you will receive an "NTLDR missing" error. There are two solutions: use a Windows CD and a bootable Lazesoft Recovery Suite Professional Edition hard drive.

It is unusual to see an "ntdlr missing" error when starting a Windows 7 computer. NTDLR is a Windows XP startup component file that is not required for Windows 7. Instead, Windows 7 uses a new updated boot components file called BootMgr.

What does Ntldr mean?
