Solving BIOS boot problem

You may see an error message indicating that the BIOS is loading. Well, there are several ways to fix this problem. So we'll come back to that in a moment. BIOS is an abbreviation for Basic Input Output System. BIOS, also known as "system setup", is software that is embedded in a small memory chip on the computer's motherboard. It acts as an interface between the computer hardware and the operating system so that the software can control the hardware.

There are many roads to BIOS. One keystroke at the right time during system boot takes you to the BIOS. If you have a newer Windows computer that may come with a UEFI BIOS, entering BIOS will be even easier. To avoid guesswork, we have compiled all methods of accessing BIOS in Windows 10, Windows 8 and earlier.

Note. In the BIOS, you can change many of the basic parameters of your computer, for example: B. Boot sequence, system date and time, or enabled hardware components. For this reason, BIOS (Basic Input / Output System) is also called “Setup”.

How To Access The UEFI BIOS

New computers start up too quickly. Thus, newer versions of Windows offer an easier way to access the BIOS. However, you need to start Windows first.

How To Enter BIOS In Windows 10

Select Settings (Windows + I)> Update & Security> Recovery and click Restart Now under Advanced Startup. Note that this will restart your computer.

If you are rebooting with extended startup, you need to select options first starting. On the screen that appears, select Troubleshoot> Advanced Options> UEFI Firmware Settings and click Restart to load the UEFI BIOS directly from Windows 10.

How To Enter BIOS In Windows 8 Or 8.1

Earlier, we wrote an entire article on how to access BIOS in Windows 8. How to access BIOS on Windows 8 computer Windows 8 has made it easier to access BIOS. Instead of using keyboard shortcuts, you can simply use the Windows 8 boot options menu. continue reading .

To summarize: open the icon bar, for example by pressing Windows + C, clicking the Settings icon and selecting Change PC settings in the lower right corner. Go to the General tab in PC settings and click Restart Now under the Advanced Startup heading.

In Windows 8.1, the steps are slightly different. In PC settings, go to the Update and Recovery tab, select “Recovery” and finally, in the “Advanced Startup” section, click “Restart Now”.

The computer will reboot with boot options including UEFI BIOS. As with Windows 10, go to Troubleshoot> Advanced Options> UEFI Firmware Settings and click Restart to launch the BIOS.

Accessing BIOS On An Old PC

If you are still running Windows 7 or earlier, you will need to use the traditional method to enter BIOS; H. wait for the right moment and press the right button.

When Is The Best Time To Enter BIOS?

The right moment is between turning on the computer and starting the operating system. The window is so narrow because the BIOS essentially initializes your hardware before handing it over to the bootloader, which loads the operating system. Once the operating system has booted, often indicated by the display of the appropriate logo, you are missing the point.

A message may appear indicating the correct time. It will probably say something like "Press to enter settings", which meansIt starts to display the key to press as well.

bios load

If you don't see this message, it's usually time to see the manufacturer's logos before launching the operating system. The easiest way not to miss the moment when you can enter BIOS is to press the right button before turning on the computer and hold it until the BIOS boots. If that doesn't work, don't press the right button or something is broken.

What's The Correct Key To Enter The Configuration?

As you've already installed, it depends on your hardware. This, in particular, depends on the motherboard on which the BIOS is located.

The common keys for entering BIOS are F1, F2, F10, Delete, Esc, and keyboard shortcuts such as Ctrl + Alt + Esc or Ctrl + Alt + Del, although these are more common on older computers. Also note that a key such as F10 can launch something else, such as B. Start menu. The exact key or key combination depends on your computer make and model.

How do I open BIOS on Windows 10?

To access the BIOS on a Windows PC, you must press the manufacturer-specified BIOS key, which can be F10, F2, F12, F1, or DEL. If your computer starts up too quickly during the self-test, you can also access the BIOS through Advanced Recovery Settings in the Windows 10 Start Menu.

You can continue with trial and error until you find the key you want, press several different keys at the same time and you will be re Zet, or see the list below.

How can I enter BIOS if f2 key is not working?

F2 was pressed at the wrong time
  1. Make sure the system is turned off and not in hibernation or hibernation mode.
  2. Press and hold the power button for three seconds, then release. The power button menu should appear.
  3. Press F2 to enter BIOS setup.

If you have ACER BIOS installed on your computer, you can reset the BIOS to boot settings by holding down the F10 key. As soon as you hear two beeps, the settings will be restored.

Older hardware may require Ctrl + Alt + F3, Ctrl + Alt + Paste, or Fn + F1.

If you know your computer is using an MSI motherboard, the key to start the BIOS is probably the delete key. You may even see the message "Click Delete to access configuration."

If your VAIO has an ASSIST button, hold it down while turning on the laptop. This will also work if your Sony VAIO comes with Windows 8.

Unfortunately, there is very little uniformity. Computer manufacturers do not always use the same motherboard manufacturer, and motherboard manufacturers do not always set the same key to enter BIOS. If you want a simple answer about which keys to press to enter setup, you need to examine the exact model of your computer's motherboard.

Youentered BIOS Successfully?

If none of the above keys work, the problem may be with the keyboard, or rather the lack of keyboard drivers before starting the computer. Try a different keyboard and / or port. For example, if you've used a USB keyboard, but your PC also has a PS / 2 port, try a PS / 2 keyboard instead.

Once you access the BIOS, you can reset the BIOS settings Entering and resetting BIOS to default settings on each computer If the computer won't start, the BIOS may be to blame. Here's how to enter it and perform a factory reset to fix these issues. continue reading to default settings.
